At least five people were killed in Israeli airstrikes on a building in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, including three rescuers who had rushed to help after an earlier attack.

Officials said two consecutive strikes hit the town of Majdal Zoun. The second strike trapped rescue workers under the rubble, and they were later confirmed dead.

Lebanon’s health ministry reported the deaths, while the Lebanese army said two of its soldiers were also injured in the second strike.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on the incident.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attack, calling it a “war crime.” The United Nations has also raised concerns in recent weeks about civilian casualties, including deaths of healthcare workers in similar strikes.

Violence has continued in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire, with both Israel and Hezbollah accusing each other of violations. Israeli forces remain deployed in parts of the south, and airstrikes have continued in several areas.

Since early March, more than 2,500 people have been killed in Israeli attacks across Lebanon, including women, children and medical workers, according to local authorities.

Clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah have persisted, with ongoing rocket and drone attacks reported from both sides.

Authorities said the situation remains tense, with civilians continuing to bear the impact of the conflict.
