In a recent interview with Channel 14, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared his thoughts on the possibility of a Palestinian state.
He suggested that Saudi Arabia has enough available land to establish a Palestinian state if they choose to.
“The Saudis can create a Palestinian state there if they want because they have plenty of empty land,” Netanyahu said.
Saudi Arabia has made it clear that the creation of a Palestinian state is a non-negotiable condition for normalizing relations with Israel.
When asked about this issue, Netanyahu firmly stated that he wouldn’t agree to any deal that could put Israel’s security at risk.
“There is no question of agreeing to the creation of a Palestinian state, especially given the situation after October 7,” Netanyahu added.
"Do you know what that is? There was already a Palestinian state. Its name was Gaza. Hamas was in charge of Gaza, they ran that Palestinian state. And look what we got from it—the largest massacre since the Holocaust."
Netanyahu, currently in Washington, made these comments shortly after attending a joint press conference with U.S. President Donald Trump.
During the press conference, President Trump shared details about the U.S. plan for controlling the region.
The two leaders also discussed the possibility of normalizing relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Netanyahu expressed optimism, saying, "I believe peace talks between Israel and Saudi Arabia are possible, and I think it will happen."
However, just after the press conference, Saudi Arabia`s Foreign Ministry issued a statement, making it clear that they will not engage in talks with Israel unless a Palestinian state is created first.
This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions and complex diplomatic situation in the region, as both Israel and Saudi Arabia have differing views on how to move forward with peace and stability.
