Russia has called on the United States and Iran to continue diplomatic negotiations and prevent tensions from escalating into renewed military conflict.

Speaking on the issue, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow wants both sides to maintain dialogue and avoid a return to confrontation.

She also reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to assist in the removal of enriched uranium from Iran, although she stressed that Moscow was not forcing the proposal on either side.

The comments came after US President Donald Trump stated that Washington would not allow Iran to keep its stockpile of highly enriched uranium.

The future of Iran’s uranium reserves remains one of the key disputes in ongoing negotiations.

Iran is believed to possess around 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60 percent purity, a level that has raised international concern.

Meanwhile, criticism of Trump’s handling of the situation has continued to grow in the United States.

Chris Murphy, a Democratic senator from Connecticut, accused the US administration of mismanaging the conflict and making repeated mistakes.

In a post on X, Murphy criticised what he described as Trump’s threat to “blow up” Oman, saying it reflected a broader pattern of poor decision-making surrounding the crisis.

The senator said the administration appeared to be operating in “constant panic mode” as tensions involving Iran continued to escalate.

Trump has recently faced criticism from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers over his approach to the conflict and broader Middle East policy.

Russia, which maintains diplomatic ties with both Tehran and Washington, has repeatedly positioned itself as a supporter of negotiations aimed at reducing regional tensions and preventing further instability.
