Shortly after being sworn in for his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump has temporarily suspended foreign aid programs for 90 days.

However, the U.S. government has assured that humanitarian aid will not be affected during this period, according to a statement from the State Department.

This move is part of Trump’s “America First” policy, which focuses on prioritizing the country‍‍`s interests.

As reported by Reuters, the suspension has halted millions of dollars in global aid programs.

Despite this, the State Department emphasized that crucial humanitarian aid, such as life-saving medical treatments, food, shelter, and other essential services, will still be provided.

However, the suspension applies to activities related to abortion, family planning conferences, administrative expenses, and transgender surgeries.

The State Department also mentioned that over the next three months, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will review the suspended aid programs and make a decision on whether to continue, revise, or permanently stop them.
