Four trucks and a private car were gutted when an oil tanker overturned in Savar`s Hemayetpur.
At least one person was killed and three others were injured in the incident, according to police.
The name of the deceased is Iqbal Hossain. His home is in Chowagacha upazila of Jessore. He worked in cement trucks.
Eyewitnesses said that around 5:35am on Tuesday, an oil laden truck lost control and hit another truck, that caught fire. Traffic on the road was stopped at this time.
On information, an ambulance and two units of Savar Fire Service and Civil Defense reached the spot and rescued four people in a burning condition. Later the burn victims were sent to Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute.
The station officer of Savar Fire Service Nurul Islam said that the fire has been brought under control.
The identity of the injured is yet to be confirmed.
OC Shah Zaman of Savar Model Police Station said that the Dhaka-Aricha highway was closed for about two hours after the incident.
“Traffic is moving now. But the road is still congested,” he added.
