Twelve individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault on Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Yusuf Ali by a mob at a checkpoint on Patenga Outer Ring Road in Chittagong.

The incident, which occurred on February 28, has led to serious concerns over law enforcement and public safety in the area.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs on March 4, the police were able to quickly respond after receiving news of the attack.

Two individuals who were involved in the mob were handed over to the authorities by the public at the scene.

A team from the Patenga police station, along with local residents, arrived promptly and rescued SI Yusuf from the mob.

Following the attack, an overnight operation was carried out by the police, and by March 1, 10 additional individuals connected to the assault were arrested.

With these arrests, the total number of those involved in the incident reached 12.

The police have filed a case under the Fast Track Court Act at Patenga police station.

The arrested suspects are accused of creating chaos at Patenga beach, assaulting SI Yusuf Ali, and stealing his mobile phone, wallet, and walkie-talkie.

Authorities also believe that the suspects were involved in drug use and robbery activities.

In light of this disturbing event, the Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a strong warning, reminding the public not to take the law into their own hands.

The statement also reassured citizens that the government is committed to bringing everyone involved in such mob-related incidents to justice and ensuring that they face the consequences under the law.
