A commuter train collided with a truck carrying sand, resulting in four fatalities and two injuries on Monday, at the Sadar upazila of Mymensingh.
It was not possible to ascertain the deceased`s identities right away.
Four people were killed on the spot and two more were injured when the truck collided with the Dhaka-bound "Balaka Express" train from Mohonganj in Netrakona at 2:15 pm, according to Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station in Mymensingh.
Up to a hundred feet away from the level crossing, the train hauled the truck. The wounded were brought to a nearby hospital, witnesses said.
Whether a gateman was present at the level crossing at the time of the accident has not yet been determined.
Following the accident, train communication on the Mymensingh-Bhairab, Mymensingh-Mohanganj, and Mymensingh-Chattogram routes remained suspended.
