An application has been filed to register a case against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and four others on charges of enforced disappearance from Uttara in 2015.
On Wednesday, Supreme Court lawyer Sohel Rana submitted the case to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury. The court has recorded the plaintiff`s statement and is currently deliberating on the matter.
The individuals named in the case include former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former Law Minister Anisul Haq, former Inspector General of Police Shahidul Haque, former RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed, and 25 unidentified RAB personnel.
In a related development, a separate case was filed on Tuesday accusing Sheikh Hasina and six others of the alleged murder of a grocery store owner, Abu Said. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury has ordered that this application be processed as a formal case.
The order came in response to a petition by SM Amir Hamza, who asserted that he was pursuing the case as a concerned citizen seeking justice for the victim.
