A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced Evaly’s Managing Director Mohammad Russell and Chairperson Shamima Nasrin to three years’ imprisonment for charges of embezzlement and fraud.
The verdict was delivered around noon by Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Monirul Islam at his Dhaka court. In addition to the prison term, each has been fined BDT 10,000, with an additional three months’ imprisonment in default of payment.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, H.M. Ruhul Amin Molla, confirmed the details of the judgment.
