Matiur Rahman, Commissioner of the Internal Resources Division, has been granted voluntary retirement in accordance with civil service regulations.

The retirement, effective from Monday, was announced in a notification issued by the Internal Resources Division on Wednesday.

Rahman will not receive retirement benefits such as post-retirement leave, a lump-sum grant, or pension, following his request upon completing 25 years of service.

He recently came under scrutiny when his son attempted to purchase a goat for Tk 15 lakh ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.

At the time, Rahman was serving as President of the National Board of Revenue’s Customs, Excise, and VAT Appellate Tribunal.

This incident led to an investigation revealing his extensive wealth, including land, flats, luxurious houses, and resorts.

He was subsequently reassigned to the Internal Resources Division of the finance ministry and is now under investigation by the Anti-Corruption Commission for undisclosed assets.

Rahman also has significant investments in the capital market, which have contributed to his substantial wealth accumulation.
