Police reported that two Rohingyas, who belonged to the armed Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa), headquartered in Myanmar, were killed in separate "gunfights" early this morning at the Ukhiya refugee camp in Cox`s Bazar.
According to Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) Mohammad Iqbal, commander of the 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBn), the deceased are Sakibul Hasan alias Sanaullah, 33, of Camp 2 West and Ahmed Hossain, 36, of Irani Pahar of Camp 5.
He claimed that both identified as "Jimmadar" and were current Arsa members.
According to a police spokesman, Sanaullah was killed near Balurmath after a shootout between rival factions, while Ahmed was killed in the Irani Pahar neighborhood of Ukhiya.
According to the ADIG, attempts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and the bodies have been sent to Cox`s Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
