The High Court has instructed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to publish a report detailing the number of legal and illegal workers in the country.

On Tuesday, May 28, the High Court bench, led by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice S.M. Masud Hossain Dolon, issued this directive.

Barrister Sarwar Hossain represented the petitioner in court, while Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy, Assistant Attorney General Selim Azad, and Anich Ul Mawa represented the state.

Previously, Advocate Salauddin Regan filed a writ petition in the High Court seeking an investigation into the number of legal and illegal workers in Bangladesh.

During a press conference at the National Press Club on February 14 this year, it was stated that more than one million illegal foreign workers are employed in various sectors across the country. This situation allegedly deprives local citizens of job opportunities suited to their qualifications. The organization "Obaidho Bideshi Khedao Andolon" (Movement to Expel Illegal Foreigners) provided this information.
