A Dhaka court today placed Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon on a five-day remand in a case lodged over murder of trader Abdul Wadud in capital`s New Market area during recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order as police produced Menon, a key leader of the Awami League-led 14-Party Alliance, before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Menon was arrested from capital`s Gulshan area on August 22.
Wadud was shot in front of New Market 1st gate on July 19. His relative Abdur Rahman filed the case with capital`s New Market Police Station on August 21 against 130 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
Other prominent accused in the case are- Mohammad Ali Arafat, Anisul Huq, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Salman Fazlur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
