A Dhaka court today extended the deadline for providing the investigation report in a case filed in February 2012 over the murders of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
This is the 106th extension of the submission deadline.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shafiuddin issued the order after Rab Additional Superintendent of Police Khondoker Md Shafiqul Alam, the case`s investigation officer, failed to submit the report today, according to court sources.
On November 16, this year, the same court ordered Rab to hand over the investigation report by today.
Previously, two separate courts raised discontent with the investigation and the investigators` failure to uncover the purpose behind the murders and arrest the actual criminals.
Sagar, a news editor of private TV channel Maasranga, and his wife Runi, a senior reporter at ATN Bangla, were murdered in their rented flat in the capital`s West Razabazar in the early hours of February 11, 2012.
Mahir Sarowar Megh, their only son, was at home at the time. The following day, Runi`s brother, Nousher Ali Roman, filed a complaint with Sher-e-Bangla Police Station.
