The High Court did not hear the writ petition today concerning the release of six quota protest coordinators and a ban on the use of live ammunition against demonstrators, due to the illness of one of the judges.

The petition was scheduled for hearing by the bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon.

However, Justice Dolon is on leave due to physical illness, which has delayed the proceedings.

Court sources indicated that the hearing might occur and an order may be issued if Justice Dolon returns to court tomorrow.

The writ petition, filed by Supreme Court lawyers Aynunnahar Siddiqua and Manzur-Al-Matin on Monday, seeks immediate release of the six coordinators from law enforcement custody and a halt to the use of live rounds against protesters.

The bench had already addressed the petition for the second consecutive day yesterday amidst significant courtroom commotion.
