A stone-like object was hurled at a moving metro rail on Sunday which damaged a window of a compartment, will cost about Tk 10 lakh to restore, according to metro rail officials.
According to a metro rail official who chose to remain unnamed and spoke to media on Tuesday, "The window replacement process is challenging. The contractor must import the glass from Japan."
"We also need to consider whether we have the equipment necessary to assemble it locally," he continued.
Samiul Kadir, assistant manager (line operations) of Metro Rail, reported an incident involving broken glass to the Kafrul Police Station Friday night.
He further stated in the case statement that the incident caused Tk 10 lakh in property damage, according to a Kafrul Police Station official.
The glass was broken on Sunday between 10:30 and 11:00 am close to Kazipara Station.
Since the train's glass window did not shatter, no passengers were hurt.
Kafrul police station's officer-in-charge, Hafizur Rahman, stated that they were attempting to locate and apprehend individuals responsible for the act.
