Coke Studio Bangla returns with ‘Baaji’ showcasing cultural fusion

Coke Studio Bangla has made a powerful return with its latest musical masterpiece “Baaji”, a soulful blend of indigenous traditions and urban folk sounds.

Released on Saturday (August 23) at 8:15 PM, the song marks the fourth track of the highly anticipated third season, once again celebrating Bangladesh’s rich cultural diversity through music.

Composed, directed, and sung by the acclaimed musician Imon Chowdhury, with vocals by Hashim Mahmud, Baaji presents an enchanting narrative of innocence and tender love.

The song is penned by the celebrated poet and urban folk artist Hashim Mahmud. Through a fusion of voices and melodies from across the country, the track evokes the universal and timeless essence of falling in love.

The arrangement incorporates traditional folk instruments, indigenous rhythms, and cinematic soundscapes.

Imon Chowdhury’s delicate performance on the sarod brings a unique contemporary touch while preserving the essence of Bangladesh’s folk heritage.

The video also highlights rare cultural expressions. Tangail’s century-old Dhua Gan ensemble, known for circular singing and dance, features prominently.

Flutist Kio U. Pru Marma and his grandmother Mrakoiching Marma from Bandarban enrich the track with Marma-language vocals, reviving ancestral songs on the brink of extinction.

The Baawm community contributes with classical tribal dance, while Manipuri Pung drummers perform energetic acrobatics known as Pung Cholom, adding rhythm and vitality.

Sharing his excitement, Imon Chowdhury said, “It feels incredible to bring back Coke Studio Bangla. We are thrilled to present ‘Baaji’ to our listeners. Every element—from the lyrics and music to the dance and visuals—represents a harmonious reflection of Bangladesh.”

Baaji pays tribute to Bangladesh’s cultural mosaic by blending nature, heritage, and humanity. The song is now streaming on Spotify and available on Coke Studio Bangla’s official YouTube channel.
