Popular Bangladeshi singer Asif Akbar, known not only for his music but also for speaking out on various national and international issues, shared his observations about political leaders on Facebook on Saturday morning.
In a brief post, Asif wrote, “I used to think political party ministers did not resign and were shameless. Now I see that chairmanship itself is for the shameless.” He did not mention any names. In the comments section, he added, “There’s a monkey inside the chair, there’s no other way.”
Asif is currently in the United States for a two-month tour, performing in multiple states with his band after 17 years. The singer has been active in anti-discrimination movements in Bangladesh and has previously joined protests with his family. After the formation of the new government on August 5, he expressed his support, noting that he would begin critiquing government policies after three months.
His recent Facebook post reflects his continued engagement with social and political issues, voicing his opinion against perceived misconduct and shameless behavior among political leaders. Asif has not provided further explanation for his remarks.
