Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) prevented attempts to push 33 people into Bangladesh through three border points in Lalmonirhat early Friday, officials said.

The incidents took place in the border areas of Hatibandha, Patgram and Aditmari upazilas, where members of India‍‍`s Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly tried to send groups of people across the frontier.

According to BGB and local sources, 11 people were brought to the Barakhata border area in Hatibandha, 10 others to the Paishattabari border in Patgram, and another 12 to the Durgapur-Dighaltari border area in Aditmari.

After receiving information, BGB personnel moved quickly to the locations and reinforced security measures. Local residents also assisted the force in preventing the groups from entering Bangladesh.

As a result, the individuals were unable to cross the border and remained in the zero-line area between the two countries, sources said.

BGB officials said border surveillance and patrol activities have been intensified following the incidents.

The force is maintaining strict vigilance to prevent any further infiltration or push-in attempts.

In a statement, the media cell of Lalmonirhat BGB Battalion-15 said all necessary measures have been taken to protect the country‍‍`s borders and maintain territorial integrity.
