The donation box of Kishoreganj`s historic Pagla mosque has received 23 bags of money. Those sacks were opened and the money was being counted on Saturday around 8:30 AM. Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday morning.
According to the sources of the mosque management committee, eight donation boxes of the mosque were opened at around 8:30 am on Saturday in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and responsible officials. The donation boxes were opened and 23 sacks filled with money were taken to the second floor of the mosque for counting.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) ATM Farhad Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Commissioner (Land) Executive Magistrate Nashita-Tul Islam, Tania Akhtar, Nabila Ferdous, Mahmuda Begum Sathi, Fatema-Tuz-Zohra, Imam Mufti Khalilur Rahman of the mosque along with 112 students of madrasa, 50 bank staff, 34 members of mosque committee and 10 members of law and order force participated for counting the money.
Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Committee President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said that when opening the donation box of the mosque on May 6-- 5 crore 59 lakh 7 thousand 689 taka, foreign currency, gold jewelery and diamonds were found in 19 sacks. Earlier, the donation box was opened after 3 months and 1 day on January 7 this year. There 4 crore 18 lakh 16 thousand 744 taka and foreign currency, gold jewelery and diamonds were found in 20 sacks.
Pagla Mosque is one of the historical buildings of Kishoreganj city. Recognized as one of the most profitable religious institutions in the country, the mosque has been named Pagla Masjid Islami Complex. The huge buildings of the complex have been constructed with the proceeds of this mosque.
People of different communities including Muslims donate to this mosque. Their belief is that by donating here, one`s desires are fulfilled.
