Three people were killed and another critically injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Tangail’s Dhanbari upazila on Thursday morning. The accident occurred in the Bilaspur Battala area.
According to Akram Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Dhanbari Police Station, a motorcycle travelling from Jamalpur towards Ghatail Cantonment in Tangail collided head-on with a speeding pickup truck coming from the opposite direction.
The crash resulted in the immediate deaths of the pickup driver, the motorcycle rider, and one of the motorcycle’s passengers.
The deceased have been identified as Swapan Mia (35), son of Aminul Islam from Charpolashia village in Melandaha upazila; Md. Al-Amin (30), son of Jinnat Ali; and Jewel Mia (32), son of Nurul Islam from Hasil Manikbari village in Jamalpur Sadar upazila.
One other motorcycle passenger was critically injured and has been transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Police recovered the bodies from the scene and stated that legal procedures will be initiated once the victims’ families arrive.
