Family members of Mehnaz Afrin Humaira, the 8-year-old student who died in the Milestone School and College fighter jet crash, were injured after the ambulance transporting her body overturned on its way to their village home.
The incident occurred late Monday night in the Mouchak area of Kaliakair upazila, Gazipur.
According to local residents and police sources, the ambulance was headed to Telipara village in Sakhipur upazila of Tangail district, where the child’s family lives. Around 2:00 AM, while traveling along the Dhaka–Tangail highway, the vehicle hit a road divider (island) near Mouchak and overturned.
Several of Humaira’s relatives traveling in the ambulance sustained injuries. Members of the army and police arrived at the scene promptly and rescued the victims.
The injured were given first aid at nearby Shafipur Tanha Healthcare Hospital. Later that night, the family continued their journey to Tangail with the child’s body in another ambulance.
