The first shipment of nuclear fuel for Rooppur nuclear power plant arrived in Bangladesh today on a Russian airplane.
After unloading, the fuel will be transported to the project site under specific security arrangements in accordance with international rules. The radioactive fuel will subsequently be stored at the project site, according to power plant sources.
The handover ceremony is expected to take place on October 5. According to project sources, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Russian President Vladimir Putin will both attend the ceremony virtually.
A Russian chartered plane carrying nuclear fuel for Unit-1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 1:30 p.m.
