Dhaka hospitals struggling due to rising dengue patients

Due to a lack of beds, many hospitals in the city, including Dhaka Medical College Hospital, are finding it difficult to manage the growing number of dengue patients.

Many dengue fever patients were observed receiving treatment on floors and balconies since hospitals were unable to provide them with beds.

Hospitals, including Holy Family Hospital, Mugda Medical College and Hospital, Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and Kurmitola General Hospital, were treating patients on the floor because all of the beds in their wards were already occupied.

However, according to Dr. Nazmul Islam, Director of the Disease Control Department of DGHS, the number of illnesses may begin to decline in the first week of November.

The number of dengue sufferers has risen recently all around the nation. But if they visit the doctor at the appropriate time, he noted, the fatalities can be reduced greatly.

He added that the spread of dengue has grown as a result of climate change. In addition, the number of mosquito-borne diseases has increased recently as a result of ignorance.

Up to October 26 of this year, dengue has claimed the lives of 120 people. Children are the worst sufferers, according to doctors.
