Head-on collision between two buses in Faridpur leaves 3 dead, 10 injured

At least three people were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Faridpur on Thursday morning. The injured were taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred around 10:00 AM on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Karimpur area of Kanaipur under Faridpur Sadar upazila. All three deceased were passengers of a Dhaka-bound bus operated by Royal Express. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.

According to highway police sources, the Royal Express bus was heading toward Dhaka from Chuadanga when it collided head-on with a local bus traveling from Faridpur to Magura. Three people died on the spot.

Eyewitness Md. Tobarak Ali, a local shopkeeper, said, “It was around 10 in the morning and raining at the time.

One of the buses was trying to overtake another at high speed when it collided head-on with an oncoming bus.”

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Karimpur Highway Police Station, Md. Salauddin Chowdhury, told media that the bodies of the deceased were sent to the morgue at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Traffic congestion followed the crash but was later cleared. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are currently underway.
