Four people lost their lives and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus in Dinajpur`s Birganj Upazila early Monday morning.
The accident occurred around 6am near Bablu Farm along the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon regional highway.
The victims were travelling in a microbus from Thakurgaon to Rangpur for a training program. All passengers were employees of the Thakurgaon District Accounts Office.
The deceased have been identified as Md Zulfikar Ali (40), Md Delwar Hossain (50), Md Imrul Hasan (45), and the microbus driver Manik Hossain (42). The injured — Mizanur Rahman Sarkar (50), Al Mamun (40), and Nahid Hossain (32) — were taken to the 250-bed Thakurgaon General Hospital.
Witnesses said the microbus collided head-on with a cement-laden truck coming from the opposite direction.
Three passengers died at the scene, and one more succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
Emergency responders from the Fire Service arrived shortly after the incident, rescued the injured, and transported them to the hospital for treatment. Three people remain under medical care.
