Mitford murder: RAB arrests one more from Narayanganj

An accused in the brutal killing of a scrap dealer in front of Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka has been arrested from Narayanganj.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained the suspect during a late-night operation in the Sonakanda area of Bandar upazila around 1:30 AM on Monday.

The arrestee, Nannu Kazi, 27, is the seventh accused named in the case filed over the murder of 39-year-old Lal Chand, also known as Sohag. So far, a total of eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident.

The arrest was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain, Commanding Officer of RAB-11. According to RAB sources, Nannu Kazi was apprehended from Balia village in Kolagachhia Union under Bandar Police Station around 11 PM. He was later handed over to RAB-10 for further legal procedures.

Lal Chand was brutally killed in broad daylight last Wednesday in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital.

He was reportedly lured to the location, where a group of assailants beat him and struck him with bricks and stones, severely injuring his head and other parts of his body. The attackers then stripped him and some were seen jumping on his body.

Following the incident, a murder case was filed with Kotwali Police Station last Thursday. The victim’s sister, Manjuara Begum, 42, filed the case, naming 19 individuals and accusing another 15 to 20 unidentified persons.
