PM chairs meeting on BRT project progress and implementation

A special meeting on the implementation and progress of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tareque Rahman.

The meeting took place this afternoon (Sunday) at the Prime Minister’s Office within the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat. Discussions focused on the current progress, implementation process, and expected benefits of the BRT project, which stretches from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Joydebpur in Gazipur.

During the meeting, experts presented their opinions and recommendations on various aspects of the project. They shared observations on the BRT system’s design, station management, passenger services, operational framework, and overall effectiveness.

Among those attending were Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Water Transport Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam; State Minister for Road Transport and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib; Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Mohammad Ziaul Haque; Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) professors Md. Shamsul Hoque, Mosleh Uddin Hasan, Md. Hadiuzzaman, and Rakib Ahsan; Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Moinul Hasan; and other relevant officials.

Participants highlighted the importance of the BRT project in easing traffic congestion in the capital and surrounding areas, modernizing the transportation system, and improving public transit services.
