Samsuzzaman Shams, a Prothom Alo reporter who has been sued under the Data Security Act (DSA), was transferred on Friday from Dhaka Central Prison to Kashimpur Central Jail.
Around 1:30 pm, a prison van transporting him arrived to Kashimpur Prison, according to Shahjahan Ahmed, superintendent of Kashimpur Jail 1.
The journalist had previously appeared before a Dhaka court on Thursday, when the court denied his request for bail in relation to a case brought by Ramna police under the Digital Security Act (DSA) and ordered him to send to jail.
He was later transported to Keraniganj's Dhaka Central Prison.
About 4:30 am on March 29, officers in plainclothes from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) picked up Shams from his home in the Ambagan, close to Jahangirnagar University.
On that same day, a Jubo League official reported Shams for allegedly publishing a "false and falsified report" on the Prothom Alo website in violation of the Digital Security Act.
