Three members of the same family, including an SSC examinee, were killed after a bus rammed into a motorcycle in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur on Tuesday morning (May 13).
The accident occurred around 9:15 AM at Jumma area of Mahesha village.
The deceased were identified as Rubina Begum (32), wife of Ashraful Islam Londi; their 2-year-old son Rahmat Ali; and niece Afsana Begum Sneha (16), an SSC candidate.
According to family members and local police, Ashraful Islam Londi, a resident of Mirbagh Mahesha village, was taking his wife, son, and niece on a motorcycle to the Kawnia Mofazzal Hossain Government High School exam center.
While traveling along the Kurigram-Rangpur highway, near Jumma area, a bus traveling in the same direction struck their motorcycle. The impact killed Rubina Begum, her son Rahmat, and niece Sneha at the scene.
Tragically, today was Sneha’s last SSC exam. The incident has left the family and the local community in deep mourning.
Kaunia Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC), Abdul Latif Shah, confirmed the incident and said the bodies have been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
