Saddam, Enan new BCL chief, GS

The new central committee for the student wing of the ruling Awami League has been announced, with Saddam Hussain made the president of Bangladesh Chhatra  League (BCL).

Sheikh Enan was appointed the general secretary of the student organisation.

The development took place on Tuesday night, two weeks after the 30th national council of BCL was held.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the top leadership positions of BCL on the Ganabhaban premises after the party chief, Sheikh Hasina, approved it.

Meanwhile, Mazharul Islam and Tanvir Hasan were made the presdient and general secretary of the Dhaka University unit of the BCL respectively.

Dhaka north unit of BCL saw Riaz Mahmud and Sagar Mahmud being appointed to the top two posts. Rajibul Islam and Sajal Kunda were given the charge of the Dhaka south unit of BCL's president and general secretary respectively.

Mentionable, Saddam was the general secretary of the BCL's last DU unit committee, and Enan the organising secretary of the previous central committee.

The previous council was held on May 11, 2018, when Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon was selected as the president of the Chhatra League and Golam Rabbani as the general secretary.

Later, on September 14, 2019, Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee were declared acting president and acting general secretary soon after then president Rezwanul and Rabbani were removed from their posts.

On January 04, 2020, Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharjee were made full president and general secretary respectively.
