A BNP leader in Dhaka city was shot dead in the Gudaraghat area of Middle Badda in Dhaka.
The incident occurred late Sunday night near a tea stall adjacent to the house of a former commissioner.
According to eyewitnesses, Kamrul Ahsan Sadhan, Joint General Secretary of the Gulshan Thana unit of the BNP, was sitting at the tea stall with party colleagues and relatives when two masked assailants arrived and opened fire indiscriminately. He collapsed on the spot after being struck by multiple bullets.
Sadhan was rushed to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, where doctors declared him dead. Bullet wounds were found on his chest, back, neck, and other parts of his body.
Police from both Gulshan and Badda stations responded to the scene. Badda Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge, Saiful Islam, confirmed the incident.
He said Sadhan was involved in the cable TV business in addition to his political role.
The identity of the attackers remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
