Subrata Bain, a top-listed criminal, has claimed that he was held in secret confinement for two and a half years.
During a remand hearing at a Dhaka court, he stated that he was kept in an “Aynaghar” (mirror house – a term often used to describe a secret detention facility).
In court, Subrata said, “They kept me in Aynaghar for two and a half years. They now say I committed theft and robbery — they fabricate all kinds of things. I don’t need any power. If I wanted, I could have run my own TV channel, hired journalists.”
He further added, “They blindfolded me and took me away in 2022. I was held in secret detention for two and a half years and was released at around 3 a.m. on August 5 last year.
They hit me on the head with an iron rod — they nearly killed me.”
Subrata and one of his close associates, Molla Masud (also known as Abu Rasel Masud), were captured during a special operation by the military in Kushtia.
Based on their information, two more associates — identified as shooters Arafat and Sharif — were later arrested from the Hatirjheel area in the capital. A case under the Arms Act has since been filed against them.
