BNP warns interim government of reconsidering support

BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain is addressing a press conference on Thursday at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan.

BNP has said, the party will reconsider its cooperation with the interim government if their previous proposals and demands continue to be ignored.

This was conveyed by BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain during a press conference on Thursday at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan.

He reiterated the BNP’s earlier demand for the removal of controversial advisers, saying their presence undermines the government’s image of neutrality. The party also expressed concern over a recent statement by the National Security Adviser and called for his removal.

Mosharraf further emphasized that the interim government‍‍`s sole mandate is to organize the next national election. He suggested replacing the large advisory council with a smaller, more efficient one tasked with routine administrative work.

The BNP also addressed the issue of the Election Commission’s neutrality, the swearing-in of Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor-elect Ishraque Hossain, and the recent protest program demanding local government elections.

Concluding the briefing, the BNP demanded a clear roadmap for holding a free, fair, and inclusive national election by December this year. The party warned that failure to meet this expectation would make continued cooperation with the interim government increasingly difficult.
