BNP has proposed the Kamalapur Stadium as an alternative venue to Nayapaltan to hold their grand rally in Dhaka on December 10 while Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) proposed the party Mirpur Bangla College field for the rally.
However, BNP’s Vice-Chairman Barkatullah Bulu said they will visit both venues and come to a decision.
A four-member delegation led by Barkatullah Bulu, held a meeting with DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq at the DMP headquarters on Thursday night.
The other members of the delegation are Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali, Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, vice-chairman Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Law Affairs Secretary Barrister Kaiser Kamal, party sources said.
The meeting was held in the wake of uncertainty over BNP’s planned December 10 rally in Dhaka, following BNP men`s clash with police in front of the party`s Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.
Though BNP has wanted to hold the rally at Nayapaltan, the government has allocated Suhrawardy Udyan or any other ground in the capital. However, BNP has remained determined to hold the rally at Nayapaltan.
