Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir has called on police personnel to play a more effective role in ensuring law and order across the country.
He made the remarks while addressing an Eid reunion programme at Police Headquarters on the first working day after the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
The police chief praised members of all units including highway, traffic and district police for their efforts in ensuring safe and smooth travel for people during the Eid period.
He said officers carried out their responsibilities with dedication to facilitate the movement of homebound passengers.
During the programme, the IGP exchanged Eid greetings with officers, personnel of different ranks and civil staff working at the headquarters.
Senior officials, including additional IGPs and heads of Dhaka-based police units, were present at the event.
