The BNP has announced a march programme in all unions across the country on February 11 to press home their 10-point demand, including holding the next general election by restoring the caretaker government system.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the announcement in a rally, which also focused on the rising prices of daily essentials and energy, in front of the party’s Naya Paltan central office in Dhaka on Saturday.
"We'll gradually move to the major cities after starting the march at unions. And the people will grab the state power someday to form the government of the people," he warned.
The party also held divisional rallies on Saturday.
Their programmes come amid strong opposition from the ruling Awami Leagaue that the caretaker system will not be restored. The ruling party says that the next general will be in accordance with the constitution.
