Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra has been discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday morning and will continue his recovery under home care, confirmed hospital authorities and family sources. The 89-year-old star had been admitted on October 31 after he complained of breathing difficulties.

Dr. Pratit Samdani, who supervised his treatment, told NDTV that Dharmendra was discharged around 7:30 a.m. and that his family has arranged for continued medical care at home. “He is stable and recovering gradually. The family decided that he would be more comfortable under home supervision,” Dr. Samdani said.

The Deol family issued a statement confirming his discharge and urged fans and the media to respect their privacy. “Mr. Dharmendra has returned home and will continue his treatment there. We sincerely thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes for his recovery and request the public to avoid unnecessary speculation,” the statement read.

The clarification followed a wave of false reports on Tuesday claiming the actor had passed away. His daughter, Esha Deol, quickly dismissed the rumours, saying, “My father is stable and recovering well. Please respect our family’s privacy.”

Dharmendra’s wife and actress Hema Malini also condemned the spread of misinformation, calling it “deeply insensitive and irresponsible.” Meanwhile, his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol expressed gratitude to fans for their constant prayers and concern.

Family insiders said the actor had been on ventilator support for a few days earlier this month but is now responding positively to treatment. Over the past week, several celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, and Govinda visited him at the hospital.

Widely regarded as one of Bollywood’s most enduring icons, Dharmendra is known for classics like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Dream Girl, and Dharam Veer. He was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya and will next appear in Ikkis, slated for release on December 25.
