Five more children have died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,092 children were diagnosed with measles or measles-like illnesses during the same period.
The information was disclosed in the latest measles update released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the DGHS report, although five children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles infection during the period.
The report said that since March 15, a total of 676 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country, while 95 children have died from confirmed measles. The combined death toll from measles and measles-like illnesses now stands at 771.
In the past 24 hours, 172 children tested positive for measles, while 920 others were reported as having measles-like symptoms. During the same period, 851 children were admitted to hospitals and 877 patients were discharged after receiving treatment.
According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases in Bangladesh has reached 114,164 since March 15, while 13,907 cases have been confirmed.
So far, a total of 96,878 patients with measles or measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals. Of them, 93,260 have recovered and been discharged.
