Following the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (FAA) yesterday, unexpected violence marred the event, leaving ten journalists injured, with four in critical condition and hospitalized.

Today, a coalition of entertainment journalists, joined by various media representatives, assembled in front of BFDC to demand justice and a thorough investigation into the incident. Members of the Film Journalists Association (BACHSAS), along with leadership from DUJ and other organizations, voiced their concerns at the protest.

Speakers at the demonstration promptly called for accountability, urging for the cancellation of membership and appropriate penalties for involved individuals, including actors Joy Chowdhury, Shiba Shanu, and Alexander Bo.

Expressing dismay, the speakers emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism and condemned any actions that obstruct journalists in their duties. They questioned the societal message conveyed when actors, admired for their on-screen performances, engage in real-life misconduct.

An investigative committee comprising eleven members, including representatives from the Film Artistes Association and journalists, has been formed to probe the incident. Producer Arshad Adnan serves as an advisor to the committee.

Journalist members of the investigative team include Limon Ahmed, Rahat Saiful, Ahmed Taukir, Bulbul Ahmed Joy, and Masum Joy, while from the Film Artistes Association, Misha Sawdagor, D. A. Tayeb, Nana Shah, Rubel, and Ratna are involved.

The committee is scheduled to convene tonight at 8 pm to commence discussions on the matter.
