Popular Bangladeshi film production company Jaaz Multimedia will stop producing feature films for theatrical release and start focusing on OTT content. The company shared the news through a post on their verified Facebook fan page on July 24.
The post stated, “Jaaz won’t be making any new films anymore. They already have produced three films that are ready but could not be released in the Covid-19 pandemic situation. All three of them are big-budget films which each cost three to four crores taka to make. Releasing them in 50 theatres will not be commercially viable.”
“Jaaz also can not produce low budget or low-quality films. So Jazz has decided to make web series and films for different OTT platform from now on. Jazz will keep continuing to do justice to its own reputation through these web series’
The upcoming Jaaz produced web series are called: ‘Onutaap,’ Paap,’ ‘Barud’ and ‘Khoj.’
The company also has three ready films, called ‘Jwin,’ ‘Masud Rana,’ and ‘MR 9, awaiting release.
The company started its operation back in 2012 with their first film ‘Bhalobasha’r Rong.’ Jaaz was the first company in the country who started digitalising the existing theatres.
The company’s founder and Rimex Footwear Ltd Chairman Abdul Aziz, is also wanted since 2018 after the Janata Bank embezzlement allegations had become public against him according to various media reports.
