‘Tandob’ sets new box office records, Shakib Khan’s Eid release soars past Tk 6 crore

Shakib Khan has once again proven his box office dominance with the Eid-ul-Azha release Tandob, directed by Raihan Rafi.

The film has set new records, surpassing its own earnings within just eight days of release.

Following two other major hits this year, Tandob has now joined the coveted Tk 6 crore club, becoming the third film of 2025 to reach this milestone.

According to data from production sources and major multiplexes, the film screened in 92 shows across the country on its eighth day, with 71 of them completely sold out and four nearly full. Star Cineplex alone hosted 52 shows that day, with 49 going fully booked. Other venues like Lion Cinemas, Grand Sylhet, Mom Inn, Monihar Cineplex, Madhuban Cineplex, Swapnil Cineplex in Kushtia, and Grand Riverview Cineplex also reported houseful screenings.

Director Raihan Rafi shared the record-breaking single-day sales on social media, stating, “Tandob is unstoppable. Come to the theatres to experience Bengali cinema; don’t watch pirated versions.”

Despite the film’s success, Tandob has faced piracy issues, prompting the director to repeatedly urge audiences to watch it only in theatres.

So far, Tandob has grossed Tk 5.76 crore in multiplexes within its first week, with projections indicating it will officially cross the Tk 6 crore mark today. Demand remains so high that many moviegoers are still struggling to get tickets.

Critics are praising Tandob for its powerful action, thrilling sequences, and emotional depth, crediting both Shakib Khan’s performance and Raihan Rafi’s masterful direction. With packed shows extending into its ninth day, theatre staff advise fans to purchase tickets online in advance to avoid disappointment.
