The government will examine any allegations related to Covid-19 vaccine procurement and take action if necessary, Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said on Tuesday.
Speaking in parliament, he said no allegation has been filed so far regarding vaccine procurement during the previous Awami League government. However, he assured that any specific complaint would be properly reviewed to ensure transparency and accountability.
The minister said that from the 2020–21 fiscal year to the present, the government allocated Tk 4,685.22 crore for Covid-19 vaccines and related expenses. Of this, Tk 4,394.08 crore was spent on vaccines, while the rest covered syringes, transportation and shipping.
He also said steps are being taken to recruit around 100,000 health workers to strengthen the healthcare system.
In recent recruitment, thousands of doctors, including assistant surgeons and dental surgeons, have been appointed through different BCS batches.
The minister said these initiatives aim to improve healthcare services and ensure smooth service delivery across the country.
