Popular Bangla band Meghdol is set to return to the stage with a solo concert after a long hiatus, marking Pohela Boishakh with a special show titled “Jhoro Shomoye Gaan” (Songs in Turbulent Times).
Organised by Yamaha Music Bangladesh, the concert will be held on April 14 at the Yamaha Flagship Centre auditorium in Tejgaon, Dhaka. The three-hour event is scheduled to run from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.
According to organisers, the show will be a seated programme with limited capacity, accommodating around 200 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are priced at Tk 1,000.
The evening will feature a full-length solo performance by Meghdol, along with appearances by three guest artists.
Band frontman Shibu Kumar Shil said the concert offers a chance to reconnect with audiences in a more immersive setting. “After a long time, we are returning with a solo concert. These shows allow us to take our time and present music the way we want. We hope to create a unique experience by blending old and new songs,” he said.
Formed in 2003 by Shibu Kumar Shil, Mezbaur Rahman Sumon and Masud Hasan Ujjwal, Meghdol debuted with the album “Droher Montre Bhalobasha” in 2005. The band later released albums such as “Shohorbondi” and “Aluminium-er Dana”.
Known for songs like “Om”, “Nefertiti”, “Esho Amar Shohore”, “E Hawa”, “Aluminium-er Dana” and “Golaper Naam”, the band has built a loyal following over the years.
The current lineup includes Shibu Kumar Shil, Mezbaur Rahman Sumon, Rashid Sharif Shoaib, Amzad Hossain, M G Kibria, Tanvir Daud Rony and Saurav Sarkar.
