Telugu actor Krishna Murali arrested over controversial remarks

Renowned Telugu actor, writer, and politician Posani Krishna Murali was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police late on the night of Wednesday, February 26. 

The arrest was made following serious allegations against the actor for making offensive comments about a specific community.

India Today reports that Murali has been charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sections 196, 353(2), and 111, as well as Section 3(5) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. 

The charges stem from remarks he allegedly made that were deemed disrespectful. The case has been filed at the Obulavaripalli Police Station, and Murali was taken into custody shortly after.

Confirming the arrest, authorities issued a notice to Murali‍‍`s wife, stating that the offense was both cognizable and non-bailable, meaning he will not be granted bail. 

Following the arrest, Murali was sent for judicial custody, and the case was presented to the First-Class Additional Magistrate in Rajampet.

Krishna Murali is a celebrated figure in South Indian cinema. Known for his comedy roles, he has appeared in several hit films such as Krack, Temper, and Gemini

Apart from his acting career, Murali has also contributed to the industry by writing scripts for over 150 films and directing a few as well.

This arrest has sent shockwaves across the South Indian film industry, as Murali is one of the most well-known faces in Telugu cinema. 

The actor’s future in the industry remains uncertain following this controversy.
