Despite rumours over his career, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Test squad for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, keeping all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, also a former lawmaker, on the team.
Speculations were rife since August 5 that the cricket star may not play for the country any longer.
Shakib, one of the MPs of the Awami League, was in Canada to play the Global T20 League when the government was ousted.
The national cricket team will fly for Pakistan on Monday, five days ahead of the original schedule to adjust with local conditions and make training session there ahead of the test series.
The first Test of the two-match series will begin on August 21 in Rawalpindi and the second and last match will be held in Karachi from August 30.
The Tigers will assemble in Lahore and will train at the Gaddafi Stadium from August 14-16 before traveling to Islamabad on August 17 for the first Test.
