In the third and final ODI against New Zealand at McLean Park in Napier on Saturday, Bangladesh is eager to restore some pride by avoiding a whitewash.

The final ODI match will start at 4am (Bangladesh Time).

The Tigers lost by 44 runs in the first rain-hit game, and then lost by seven wickets in the second game even though Soumya Sarkar scored a historic 169 runs. These loses took Bangladesh‍‍`s record of consecutive defeats in ODIs played in New Zealand to 18.

The third ODI would be Bangladesh‍‍`s last opportunity to break this  disappointing streak, as there won‍‍`t be any more series in New Zealand in FTP until 2027.

Ahead of last ODI in Napier Bangladesh skipper Shanto said, "We must perform as a team. There are a few individual performances. But we need a bit more from the team, more partnerships. I still believe we have the ability to beat the opposition. I see every match as an opportunity.  I believe we can rewrite history."

If they can do so, they will also avoid the whitewash and fifth straight defeat to New Zealand.

Prior to the World Cup, the Black Caps even prevailed 2-0 in a three-match series in Bangladesh.

Notably, after the ODI series, Bangladesh will play a three-match T20 International series here.
