Amid rising regional tensions, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has not yet made a final decision on the national team’s scheduled tour of Pakistan.

The team is set to travel to the UAE on May 14 for a two-match T20I series against the hosts, before heading to Lahore and Faisalabad for a five-match T20I series against Pakistan.

However, uncertainty now looms over the tour due to the evolving security situation in the region.

BCB President Faruq Ahmed and several board directors held an emergency meeting on the issue at the Mirpur headquarters this evening.

While the matter was discussed in detail, the board opted not to suspend the tour immediately.

Instead, the BCB will continue to monitor the situation closely until May 10 before making a final decision.

“We are observing developments and will take a final call after May 10,” said Faruq Ahmed, speaking to media. He also confirmed that the BCB is in regular contact with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to assess ground realities.

Meanwhile, the BCB has also reviewed the status of two Bangladeshi cricketers—Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana—currently participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Both players have assured the board that they feel safe and are experiencing no problems. The BCB president has personally spoken to PSL officials and the players to ensure their well-being.

The board has indicated that unless the situation significantly deteriorates, it is unlikely to take any hasty decision regarding withdrawing players or canceling the tour.

As of now, the PSL continues as scheduled, and further decisions will depend on how the security landscape evolves over the coming days.
