Bangladesh ODI captain Shakib Al Hasan has informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that he will not captain the country in the World Cup, which begins on October 5 in India.
According to BCB sources, Shakib wants to step down as captain because he does not want half-fit players. Tamim Iqbal`s present injury problem, as well as his impending participation in the World Cup squad, are said to have ignited such a decision.
According to reports, BCB has called for a meeting this afternoon to finalize the selection decision. According to sources, BCB executives are also trying to convince Shakib to stay on as captain for the World Cup.
