In a move that has caught the attention of cricket fans, Najmul Hossain Shanto has decided to step down from his role as the captain of Bangladesh‍‍`s T20 team.

While he had previously hinted at his intention to leave the position, it wasn‍‍`t until recently that he officially confirmed it.

Sources from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have confirmed that Shanto has informed them that he will no longer be leading the T20 squad.

He had been at the helm for just 11 months before making this decision.

BCB President Faruk Ahmed shared his views on the matter, saying, “Shanto has finally told us that he will not continue as the T20 captain. We have accepted this decision.”

It is worth noting that during Bangladesh‍‍`s recent series against the West Indies, the team achieved a 3-0 victory in the T20 format, with Liton Das filling in as captain in Shanto‍‍`s absence.

Shanto will remain in charge of the ODI and Test teams.

Faruk Ahmed also mentioned, “Unless there are any injury concerns, Shanto will remain the captain for both the ODI and Test formats. That’s the arrangement we’ve agreed upon.”

As for the future of the T20 captaincy, the board has decided to hold off on making any decisions.

“Since there are no upcoming T20 matches for now, we have time. We are not appointing a new captain immediately,” said a BCB official.
